Our ‘Exploring Occupation’ service model is delivered by an occupational therapist. Within this service we support you to engage in occupation as part of an active lifestyle.
We aim to enable you to participate in activities of everyday life that provide meaning and purpose in your desired roles, contexts and life situations. Our passion is in enabling you to strive to reach your fullest potential in order to live a better, healthier life.
We have developed the ‘Inner You – 3 Step Process’ to help you understand our therapy process.
In Step 1 we look at exploring what you want, need, and are expected to do in order to live well. We work with you to develop an occupational profile. This is a holistic summary of your life experiences, patterns of daily living, interests, values, needs, desires and relevant contexts. Together, we then analyse this information to identify your occupational needs, priorities, strengths, and the barriers that impact your ability in reaching an optimal state of wellbeing. From here we collaborate to set realistic and meaningful goals that will guide individualised intervention in Step 2.
In Step 2 at Inner You we take action and guide you towards achieving a better you. We provide person centred intervention that targets your individualised goals and desires. Together we will design an occupation-based intervention plan. When developing an intervention plan, we integrate the best available research evidence with clinical expertise along with your preferences and unique contexts. They are also based upon findings from relevant assessment tools and the occupational profile completed in Step 1. In this stage we don’t claim to have the answers to everything and will refer you to alternate services as required.
In Step 3 we take the time to reflect and determine your progress towards achieving improved health, wellbeing and participation of life. We review intervention plans, monitor outcomes, modify the plan as required, re-evaluate goals and determine ongoing needs for further intervention.
As the last step we also collaboratively develop a self-management plan for attaining ongoing maintenance. The aim behind this is to reduce future need for further intervention.
